Geopolitical paradox: why Europe (EU+EEA) needs the US (thousands miles away westward, across the Atlantic Ocean) protection against Russia (its close neighbour)? The illusion of Russian strength and power.

Europe (EU + EEA) has the largest population of the three blocs. Three times bigger than the Russian population and half bigger than the US Population. Why do Europeans ask for the US protection against a much smaller nation?

Europe produces 10 times more wealth than Russia, it has much more financial capacity to build a stronger defence than Russia, on its own without the US. Combining Europe and the US, the Western Bloc overwhelms Russia, which cannot withstand such financing capacity.

European countries (EU + EEA - most of them in NATO) combined have a military budget three times larger than Russia. The Western bloc (Europe + US) military spending is 10 times larger than Russia. Europe should have the objective to catch up the US and overtake to reflect the size of the population to protect.
